So a new Vietnamese eatery has just opened in the Elizabeth Arcade in the City, it's called Pho City. We decided to try their food out because we saw quite a few Asian people inside so we just assumed that the food must then be pretty authentic.
Both of us felt like having noodle soup so we each ordered a bowl of glass noodles in hearty broth with crispy skin chicken and grilled pork chops. At first glance, the dish looked kind of plain and the smell wasn't very impressive either. However, the soup tasted really good, it was very flavorful! The crispy chicken and grilled pork on the side was also quite delicious- juicy and tasty. Will definitely come back again.
Our colleague from the lab next door, Dr. E joined us midway with his friend, R. We hung out that evening and walked around the "Christmas Markets" at South Bank. We were really looking forward to the Market because it was advertised as some special Christmas event, but really they were just the same ol' stores just decked out in heaps of fairy lights so that was pretty disappointing. Ha!
We had some late night dessert at Passion Tree after walking around for hours. We all shared the Peanut Butter and Honey Bread dish. Essentially, it was a piece of thick toast (like those you'd find in a HK "cha chan teng") smothered in peanut butter, whipped cream, honey and a scoop of vanilla ice-cream. It was just heavenly. I don't care if I can't fit into my wedding gown anymore. This is just so totally worth it.
