Samford Show 2015

A month or so back, the Husband and I went to the Samford Show. Our colleagues told us about a "mini Ekka" so we had to go! Turns out, it's an awesome mini Ekka indeed! Samford is a bit like a posh posh town, super nice place tucked away. The showgrounds were much cleaner and everything just seemed more civil than the Ekka itself.

There was a dog competition on when we went there, we saw all different types of dogs! I especially loved the Corgis! They were so fluffy and looked like little foxes!

Like dog like master..?

There were also some horse shows going on. The horses were magnificent to behold. Their trainers were young girls who were very serious about the show indeed. 

As expected, what's an Ekka without some cows..?

Kids playing. It looked insanely fun and I would've loved to get myself into one of them balls and start running around like crazy, bumping everyone else outta the way!

I think the highlight for us was the vintage car display. 

SO. BLOODY. AWESOME!

The Husband and I mad love vintage cars, which was also why we chose a wee vintage Beetle as our wedding car. They're elegant and timeless. Modern day fast cars are just too ostentatious for my liking. 

A friend once said, money can't buy you class. I cannot agree more.

We had a good day out that day, we never knew little fairs like this existed! Hmm. Now I needn't wait a whole year for Ekka no more! Yay.

On the way back, I saw a couple of white horses grazing in the distance! Had to frantically get the Husband to pull over just so I could snap a few shots.

Brisbane Powerhouse

We made an impromptu trip down to Brisbane Powerhouse last week and we managed to get some nice shots. 

Love the beautiful Powerhouse, it's full of character! It looks quite derelict both on the inside and outside but its a little like a hippie joint at the same time, complete with neon signs in different shapes. There were a lot of award-winning photographs on display on the inside, very arty farty. Came across many poignant images that got me thinking.

Anyway, we saw 2 or 3 wedding entourages there. Clearly, it is a very popular site to take photos at. The super tall backdrop of white-washed bricks was just gorgeous! Very impressive. Can't believe I'm only finding out about this like now, after 7 years here.

Superrrr love this Tuscany-like corner too! Can't wait to return to take more pictures!

The Husband was trying out his hand at low-key photography, the results turned out pretty awesome!

The Husband took most of the shots posted here, I think his composition is improving by leaps and bounds! A true Piscean, I must say haha.

Graduation Ceremony 2015

My sincerest apologies for my mini hiatus from the the blogosphere! It has been totes cray cray the past few weeks with my folks flying in to visit and my subsequent flying out for business.

Just a quick recap on my Graduation Ceremony that took place on the 21st of July 2015! 

My folks insisted on me attending my graduation ceremony so I did so albeit begrudgingly. I think they are more proud of me than I am of myself, which is sweet in a way I suppose. What was even sweeter was the unexpected gift they got for me! They got me a nice set of jewellery, in my Mum's favourite icon- the Singapore Vanda Miss Joachim Orchid hahahaha. 

I was really touched by the gift because firstly, my parents don't usually buy presents for us and secondly, they are very reserved when it comes to expressing their emotions. I wore them for the occasion and I must say, the gold contrasted against my black outfit very well.

I was part of the Academic Procession, and it was quite a nice feeling, being able to march in and sit together with the big wigs on stage.

I was having a super massive headache that afternoon and wasn't feeling too well so I wasn't really in the mood to have my pictures taken. I quite regret that now, unfortunately :(

And I made love these last 2 pictures! The Husband took them very artistically indeed. So much win.

We had a nice dinner after the ceremony, with Dr. O and his wife included. I didn't appreciate the fact that I had to take 4 tabs of Panadol, which by the way didn't really help with my migraine at all, but by and large it was a good day!

I like the academic gown, it looks quite regal I must say! Although at times I think it makes me look like a Pastor of sorts, heh.
