Amigurumi Toyland

Because it was the weekend and I desperately wanted to get out of the house for a bit, I googled "Things to do in Brisbane". I then learnt about the ongoing BrisAsia Festival in the city. I saw an event called "Amigurumi Toyland" and this was the description they had on it:

"Peek into the super-cute world of amigurumi as the nooks and crannies of one of Brisbane's oldest laneways reveals a secret wonderland. Amigurumi is the popular Japanese art of knitted and crocheted small stuffed animals and adorable anthropomorphic creatures. Head to Burnett Lane to see this yarn menagerie of amigurumi peeping out from their hidey holes to say hello."

Being suckers for all things cute and a little unusual, we made our way down to Burnett Lane to see what this was all about. FYI, Burnett Lane is a little alley way in the City near the main Queen Street area.

There were quite a few people viewing the cute little crocheted animals adorning the sidewalk. There were also many photographers, with all their gear in hand, standing around waiting to get the perfect shot. We were just there with our little Fujis (XE-1 and XT-1) and our 23mm and 35mm prime lenses. I must say, we were pretty ill-equipped as compared to the others. Nevertheless, we managed to get some good shots.

Shall let the pictures do the talking now!

And here's a shot of us taking shots of the display- because we like to take photos of each other taking photos of things hahahaha..

I'm glad we got to see the display before it got removed later today. It was only on for 3 days. A little too short I think? Anyway, I think it's pretty cool to have these things knitted all around and old city back lane. It's like, old meets new. Confusion is always welcome, ha!
